Geospatial Themes – Kerala Water Authority

A geographic information system (GIS), an important tool, is just one of the many tools needed to supply managers with the information required to make decisions that will have a significant impact on the utilities’ ability to provide the services demanded by their customers.

Spatial data is vital to Kerala Water Authority’s (KWA) water distribution system management. Geospatial solution will help to keep track of data related to all aspects of the organization including Network assets, Operation & Maintenance, customers, and financial records.

Objective

The purpose of the establishing an GIS cell is to enable the Kerala Water Authority to prepare, update and manage the Water distribution assets and related resources in a common repository. This would help KWA in planning, operational and developmental decision making, Asset management, Work Order and Request Management, Reporting etc
