Electrical Wing - Operations Unit
The water treatment process in KWA requires huge amount of electrical energy for operation, mainly for pumping activities which may run up-to 50% of the total operational cost. In view to control the power charges and to modernise the pumping stations an electrical wing was formulated under Operations Unit.
The power required for all the water treatment operations is supplied by KSEBL. There are 273 HT (High Tension) and 2300 LT (Low Tension) water pumping stations in KWA. Energy Efficiency is considered as the fifth fuel which when enhanced will reduce the cost of energy which holds a prominent share among the operating expenditure. The following works are now undertaken by Electrical wing to reduce energy consumption and energy cost.
- Energy Audit in HT Pumping stations.
- Automation of Pump Houses.
